Polymer Clay Charms Tryout

Because the Kawaii Jewelry Shop is doing quite well, the inventory is starting to dwindle 😦 I wanted to make some new necklaces this weekend, but discovered that I’m running out of beads and chains. So I ordered new ones and decided to give polymer clay a try in the meantime.

Recently I found this pastel colored and glow in the dark Fimo, yay! I used some small cookie cutters to create a base and ended up with 3 charms that looked okayish. The other creations didn’t work out (PMS is totally to blame here) and ended up in a clay blob. I think for future charms some brown clay might be nice for the eyes and such.

Kawaii polymer clay charm bunny

This is supposed to be a bunny cookie, the texture looks a bit weird though. Next time I should use sandpaper or toothbrush to make (stamp) a proper texture. Note to self: don’t use your nail to place elements onto each-other…

Kawaii polymer clay charm cloud

This cloud is my favorite, he might make it to round two. Yes clouds are blue and raindrops are white.

Kawaii polymer clay charm kitty

Pastel colored Hello Kitty, by this time I had rolled the clay a tad too much, which makes it less smooth.

So there’s still a lot to learn when it comes to using polymer clay, but I hope to get the hang of it eventually. Which charm do you like best and/or is there another shape that you would really like to see?

Metin and I are also working on a new line of cute products, more about that soon! (β˜…^O^β˜…)

  1. These are absolutely adorable! :3 I was just wondering, if you don’t mind me asking, where did you buy your Polymer clay? I have no clue on where to start because I wanted to start a shop soon, but I was just wondering and wasn’t quite sure who to ask (you can feel free to email me with the email I used while filling out the form). I love the Hello Kitty charm!

    1. Hello Sam, thank you for your comment πŸ™‚ In Europe you can buy a polymer clay brand called Fimo, it’s available in hobby shops. In the USA I believe Sculpey is the most well known brand. I’m not sure in what local shops you can buy it, but they do sell it on Amazon. You could also have a look at Japanese clay and clay molds called Fuwa Fuwa (Mousse). These are available at online shops like Modes4U and Jbox (which also sells cute cutters). Good luck with your shop!
